From Watercolour to Pixel
From an early age, Xavier Vanabelle divided his time between computing and the graphic arts, developing and expressing his visual sensibility. His architectural studies enabled him to bring these two worlds together and discover 3D as a unique form of expression, where technical precision meets artistic creativity.
In the late 1990s, when architectural visualisation was still in its infancy, he began exploring these emerging tools with boldness and intuition. His final-year thesis — “Project of the Past, Vision of the Future” — raised an intriguing question: what if Victor Horta had had access to 3D tools at the beginning of the 20th century?
This pioneering work was recognised by his peers and marked the beginning of a unique journey. Quickly recruited for his expertise in computer-aided design, he decided in 2000 to strike out on his own and dedicate himself to creating 3D images for architectural competitions, real estate developments and public presentations.
In 2006, he founded Asymetrie, a company dedicated to architectural visualisation, at the crossroads of technology and visual communication.
Since then, the story has continued to unfold through collaborations, competitions and projects, driven by one unwavering conviction:
bringing architecture to life through imagery.
ASYMETRIE, it's evolution:

Establishment of ASYMETRIE SRL, offering 3D visualisation and animation services for the architecture and real estate sectors.
The starting point of a great journey driven by continuous technological innovation and the growth of the company.
Implementation of high-performance computing systems, enabling the production of 3D animations.
First major collaborations with France and Luxembourg.

A team, diverse talents, one vision
Architects and graphic designers work hand in hand to bring every project to life. The architects model the volumes in 3D using dedicated design tools, ensuring accuracy and spatial consistency. The graphic designers then refine every detail: materials, lighting, camera angles and atmosphere, transforming the model into a realistic and emotionally engaging image.
Each team member brings their own specific expertise: materials, lighting, interior and exterior scenes, photo shoots, video editing, post-production, storyboarding, photography and virtual applications. This diversity of skills enables Asymetrie to approach every project with a comprehensive and rigorous methodology, supported by efficient organisation and constantly evolving management tools.
Recently established in spacious, bright new offices in Thuin, the studio provides its team with an environment designed to foster creativity and collaboration. Always attentive to technological developments, Asymetrie continuously invests, learns and innovates to maintain the highest standards and deliver increasingly immersive visuals.
Our goal: to bring your architectural or real estate project to life, evoke emotion and reveal its full potential — making it easier to present, inspire and promote.
ASYMETRIE TOMORROW
To preserve what makes us strong – expertise, precision, responsiveness, quality of execution and client satisfaction – Asymetrie is constantly reinventing itself.
Innovation is not a choice; it is a necessity if we are to remain true to our promise: creating visuals that bring out the full potential of your projects.
Architectural visualisation is constantly evolving.
Yesterday, we built the image.
Then, we brought volumes to life through animation.
Today, we are exploring real-time immersion and virtual reality, and tomorrow, we will naturally integrate the possibilities offered by artificial intelligence.
Not to replace, but to enrich. AI opens the door to new creative processes, greater responsiveness and entirely new possibilities. These are new tools to serve our ideas… and above all, yours.
What if Horta had had access to artificial intelligence tools? What would his creative process have looked like?
Perhaps an idea for a future final-year thesis…
A constantly evolving profession, which Asymetrie embraces with dedication and passion.
